Use your bio strategically

Your profile is the first thing that people see when they look at your Instagram. It contains your profile picture, bio, and a website link. Let’s take a look at how you can use these features to promote yourself.

Profile picture: Use a clear picture that represents your homestead. It can be a logo or pictures of the farm. The trick is to keep it simple and eye-catching.
Bio: Make it obvious what you do on your Instagram bio. You should also include your location so that people know if you are near them or not.
Website link: Include a link to your website. You can opt to choose a specific page on your website if you are looking to promote a certain service or product.

Use brand photography

Instagram is all about the visual feed, and you need high-quality photos to stand out. You may want to consider investing in a photographer to take pictures of your homestead. You can use it on social media, websites, and brochures. It helps you look professional and helps with consistently on every marketing material that you do.

If you don’t have brand photography currently or don’t have the finances to pay for one, then you can use a photo editing app like Instasize to create consistency on your pictures. Create or choose a filter that you would like to use (like the new Ultra filter). Using the same filter on all of your photos is a quick and easy way to make your pictures Insta-worthy.

Use location-based hashtags

You can include up to 30 hashtags in every post. You will want to use them all to successfully promote yourself. You want to consider choosing hashtags that are relevant to your industry. The gold mine though is use hashtags related to your location. For example, if you are near Topeka, Kansas area, then you may want to use hashtags like #kansas, #topekawedding, #topekaproud, and #kansaslife in your posts. It helps you get seen by those local to you and are more willing to interact with your profile because of it.

Instagram can be a fun way to promote your homestead once you set it up. Use your bio to help a user know who you are immediately and how to reach you. Using consistent photos or a filter can help your visual feed stand out and look professional. Hashtags are the key to your success on Instagram and reaching out to new audiences near you. You’ll love using Instagram to make your homestead known to those on the Internet.
